Scholarships

The American Association of Blacks in Energy proudly supports the academic achievements of students who desire careers in the energy industry by awarding scholarships to students who are high-achievers and who have an interest in pursuing an energy-related career.

Our national office awards seven scholarships annually:
• Six (6) Regional scholarships at $3K each
• One (1) National scholarship at $5K, which is a reoccurring scholarship for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains enrolled in an eligible Major

In addition, AABE local chapters provide their own scholarships through money raised by golf tournaments, grants, and other fundraising activities.  See chapter pages for additional information.

Through the work of various members of the AABE National Scholarship Committee, Chapter Presidents, Regional Directors, local scholarship committees, and many AABE volunteers nationwide, the AABE Scholarship Program is advertised, and applications are solicited from eligible candidates nationwide. AABE local chapters review the applications received and select local scholarship winners, from which the top-ranked candidates are forwarded to the National Scholarship Committee for consideration of regional and national awards.

Though founded to address funding inequities in education resources for African Americans, AABE-administered scholarships are open to all ethnicities; the great majority of recipients are still African American.
